What types of Virtual Tours are possible?

(Scroll Down for Virtual Tour Examples)

360 Photo Virtual Tours:

Use 360° Photos to create a user operated virtual tour.

  • Matterport is a popular option for 360 photo virtual tours

    • Pros:

      • Higher image quality due to 134MP Matterport camera

      • Is a smoother navigation experience

      • Uses LiDAR to create a 3D space

      • Has 3D doll house view

      • Can perform accurate measurements from the tour

    • Cons:

      • Requires Matterport camera (rental included in price)

      • Requires multiple scans per room (scan req’d every 6 feet).

      • More expensive option than Kuula

  • Kuula.co is another popular option for 360 photo virtual tours

    • Pros:

      • Requires fewer photos than Matterport (could be as few as 1 per room)

      • Easy to share on social platforms

      • Less expensive virtual tour option as compared to Matterport

    • Cons:

      • Decent image quality, but not to the level of Matterports 134MB photo resolution

      • Not as smooth a navigation experience

Note: All “The Elements” examples included below were created using Kuula.co

Video Walk-thru Tours:

Uses a gimbal stabilized camera and/or drone to capture smooth, steady video footage that is edited into a final video.

  • Pros:

    • No action required by user to view

    • Short Walk-thru videos are good option for social media sharing

  • Cons:

    • User can only see where the camera is pointing (no 360 view)

    • Pace of video may be too fast for some users

The case for using both Photo and Video Virtual Tours:

  • 360 Photo Tours are great for allowing new guests to explore the complex

  • Video Walk-thru’s are great for sharing on social media

  • A 360 Photo Tour can also link to any video such as a Video Walk-thru

  • Aerial Photos can be added to 360 Photo Tours which can contain links to specific locations within the complex (see The Elements example below)

Video Walk-thru Virtual Tours:

I used Google Earth to get a rough square footage measurement of the Nordic Spa area. I provided a “per square foot price” in case my assumptions were incorrect.

  • Video Walk-thru priced at $0.15 / sq ft:

    • 13,700 sq ft x 0.15 = $2,055 for Video Walk-thru.

      • Walk-thru filmed using a gimbal stabilized camera and drone

      • Includes speed ramp editing and royalty-free music

360 Photo Virtual Tours:

  • Virtual Tour using 360° photos priced at $0.25 / sq ft:

    • 13,700 sq ft x 0.25 = $3,425 for Virtual Tour using Kuula

  • Virtual Tour using Matterport priced at $0.33 / sq ft:

    • 13,700 sq ft x 0.33 = $4,521 for Virtual Tour using Matterport
